The next meeting of the Digital Single Market Group will take place on Monday 31 March, 1600-1800 hours in Westminster to be chaired by Malcolm Harbour MEP.  The purpose of the meeting is to focus on the state of play of the various Commission dossiers of relevance to DPA members, and to present developments from a DPA working group on the proposed Network and Information Security Directive (NIS) and the General Data Protection Regulation (including what a workable data protection regime should look like).

The European Parliament formally decides on legislative proposals during its plenary sessions.  Rule 214 of its Rules of Procedure states that, at the end of this plenary session (scheduled 14-17 April), the EP’s unfinished business shall be deemed to have lapsed.  However, at the beginning of the new Parliamentary term in May 2014, the Conference of Presidents may take a decision on whether to resume or continue the consideration of unfinished legislative proposals.

Please email dpa@dpalliance.org.uk if you plan to attend.
